Hi there,

I’m Maxwell Serna, a 3D artist and CGI generalist based in Sausalito, CA.

My journey into the world of 3D design and CGI began unexpectedly during my Graphic Design studies. Fascinated by the ability to create entire worlds digitally, I quickly fell in love with CGI and the endless creative possibilities it offers. This discovery ignited a passion that has driven my career ever since. Over the years, I have combined formal education with hands-on experience to refine my skills, working on a variety of projects that challenge and inspire me. Along the way, I've learned a new way of looking at design and composition, embracing a refined and elegant approach without forgetting the chaos and beauty of imperfections, enhancing the look, feel, and mood of any space.

My Work

  • RH Restoration Hardware (2023-2024): I collaborated with talented interior designers and product developers to create photorealistic images for the company’s sourcebooks. This role taught me the importance of high standards and effective teamwork, and how to balance refinement with the beauty of imperfections to enhance the overall design.

  • Smith & Noble (2019-2022): At Smith & Noble, I used CGI technology to transform product visualization, making it easier for customers to see how products would look in their homes. One of my proudest achievements was developing an AR project that significantly enhanced the customer experience.

  • Freelance Adventures (2014-Present): Freelancing has allowed me to work with incredible clients like Pinto.co and En La Piel. Each project has been unique, pushing me to adapt and grow while consistently delivering top-quality results.

  • 3D Software: 3D Studio Max, Blender, Autodesk Maya.

  • Rendering Engines: Vray, Corona Render, Cycles.

  • Compositing Software: DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Photoshop. 

  • Texturing Tools: Substance Painter, Photoshop, Quixel Mixer.

  • Game Engines: Unreal Engine.

My Philosophy

Visual storytelling is at the heart of what I do. My aim is to create visuals that are not just stunning but also tell a story. I thrive on collaboration, enjoy working with talented teams, and am always on the lookout for new challenges and learning opportunities.
